Today marks the 17th death anniversary of Zohra Begum Kazi, Bangladesh’s first female physician and a pioneer in medical service, women’s empowerment, and social welfare. Her legacy as a trailblazer in the country’s healthcare sector continues to inspire generations, and we gather to pay our deepest respects and offer prayers in her memory.

Born in 1912 in Rajnagar, Madhya Pradesh, India, Zohra Begum Kazi was not only a beacon of women’s liberation but also a dedicated healthcare provider during a time when opportunities for women were limited. After completing her medical education in British India, she dedicated her life to serving the people of East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. Her lifelong commitment to medicine, charity work, and empowering women earned her the affectionate title, “Mother of Modern Obstetrics” in the region.

Her humanitarian efforts went beyond hospitals, as she actively engaged in social causes, supported marginalized communities, and mentored young women to enter the medical profession. In recognition of her contributions, she was honored with numerous awards, including the Tamgha-e-Pakistan for her services in public health. Zohra Begum Kazi’s life was a testament to perseverance, professionalism, and compassion.

On this solemn occasion, the Trust Group family, alongside admirers and followers of her legacy, pays tribute to her indomitable spirit.
