Kazi Safiqul Alam, Chairman of Trust Group, and Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Managing Director, recently held a pivotal meeting with key officials from the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The meeting included Honourable Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Mr. Md. Abdur Rouf, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment.**

The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss strategies for reducing plastic consumption in Bangladesh and to promote eco-friendly jute bags as a sustainable alternative to polythene bags. Recognizing the environmental challenges posed by plastic waste, the leaders emphasized the urgent need for a collaborative approach to encourage the use of jute bags, which are biodegradable and have a significantly lower environmental impact.

During the meeting, the group discussed various initiatives, including public awareness campaigns, incentives for jute bag production, and collaboration with local businesses to increase the availability of eco-friendly alternatives. Mr. Alam highlighted Trust Group’s dedication to sustainability and its efforts to innovate within the jute industry, enhancing the quality and accessibility of jute products.

Dr. Farhina Ahmed reinforced the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and expressed support for initiatives that promote jute as a viable substitute for plastic. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to establish a task force aimed at implementing actionable strategies for reducing plastic use and promoting jute bags across various sectors.
